Bayerisch Eisenstein DEM-GIS

Configuration-driven local GIS pipeline for a cross-border elevation model from Bavarian DGM and Czech DMR data.

01

Problem

Initial situation

Official elevation data, different coordinate systems and supplementary vector data must be combined reproducibly into terrain data suitable for analysis and mapping.

02

Constraints

Boundary conditions

  • Local raw and result data
  • Heterogeneous GeoTIFF and optional LAZ inputs
  • Explicit target CRS EPSG:25833
  • Fail-fast pipeline
  • Verifiable QA
  • License review before publication
03

Solution

Solution

A stepwise Python/GDAL pipeline checks the environment, creates an area of interest, reprojects and merges DEM tiles, derives hillshade and contours, adds vector layers and renders defined outputs.

04

Architecture

Architecture

  • Python orchestration
  • GDAL and optional PDAL
  • YAML configuration
  • GeoTIFF and GeoPackage
  • Optional PyQGIS export
  • Static SVG viewer and QA reports
05

Result

Result

A harmonized, cropped DEM for Bayerisch Eisenstein with terrain derivatives, PNG/PDF/SVG maps, optional QGIS project, static viewer and laser-ready elevation layers.
