Map-Geo / Map Geometry Lab

Local vanilla PWA for constructing and analyzing geometric objects on a georeferenced map.

01

Problem

Initial situation

Geometric construction on real maps requires stable geographic coordinates, metrically reliable calculations and locally controlled project storage.

02

Constraints

Boundary conditions

  • WGS84 as the authoritative storage format
  • Metric analysis in a local projection
  • Offline-capable application shell
  • Validated import and export
  • Provider-compliant tile caching
03

Solution

Solution

Map-Geo separates domain objects, derived map features and intersection points. OpenLayers renders the map while a project-local AEQD layer computes geometry in meters; projects remain in IndexedDB and can be exported as JSON.

04

Architecture

Architecture

  • Vanilla HTML/CSS/ES modules
  • OpenLayers and Proj4js as local vendor assets
  • WGS84 / WebMercator / local AEQD
  • IndexedDB repository
  • Service Worker
  • Validated JSON schema

Result

Result

An installable geometry lab with points, lines, polygons, circles, intersection analysis, numerical construction, elevation profiles, and PNG, SVG and JSON output. The GEO Area Pipeline additionally provides validated WGS84 bounding-box polygons with provenance and zoom metadata for manual project import; external OsmAnd SQLite packages are not a browser tile cache.
