Rotation Lab

Interactive, modular learning lab for rotational inertia and rotating components in automotive/motorsport contexts.

01

Problem

Initial situation

The quadratic effect of radius on moment of inertia, angular momentum and rotational energy is mathematically correct but becomes intuitive for real vehicle parts only through direct manipulation.

02

Constraints

Boundary conditions

  • Physically consistent calculations
  • Controls for radius, rotational speed and mass
  • Technically oriented automotive/motorsport audience
  • Modular chapter structure
  • Fully local vanilla build
03

Solution

Solution

An interactive simulator combines an animated rotation model with metrics and normalized diagrams. Comparative models apply the relationships to a spacer disc, brake disc, brake drum and wheel-rim/tire ring.

04

Architecture

Architecture

  • Vanilla HTML/CSS/JS
  • Data-driven chapters
  • Interactive diagrams
  • Deterministic physics model
  • Structured development build
  • Offline single-file export

Result

Result

Version 1 calculates and visualizes moment of inertia, rotational energy, angular momentum, tangential speed, centripetal force and equivalent radius of gyration. The lab forms Module 01 and the mechanical foundation of the completed Automotive Core v1 collection C118; it is not equivalent to the entire system.
